Flood Insurance Study & Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps

Flood Insurance Study

When a flood study is completed for NFIP, the information and maps are assembled into a Flood Insurance Study (FIS).  The FIS contains detailed flood elevation data in flood profiles and data tables.  The FIS is a narrative report of Cascade County's flood hazards.  Flood profiles within the FIS may be used to obtain the detailed flood elevation at a specific site and also the predicted elevation for other flood events.  The FIS consists of the areas studies and the engineering methods used, past flooding information, and flood profiles of the flood source.

Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs)

Flood Insurance Rate Maps are the official community maps that shows special flood hazard areas and the risk premium zones.  The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) adopted the current Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for Cascade County on March 19, 2013.  The FIRMs are available for copy and inspection at the Planning Department.  They are also viewable and downloadable online at FEMA's Map Service Center.
